Sara and Roger tied the knot on June 28, 2014 in Greensboro, NC. Read Sara’s Q&A response below to learn more about their wedding and photography experience!

1. How did you and Roger meet and fall in love? I’d love to hear a little bit more of your story. 🙂
We were both AmeriCorps members in the same graduate school program and one week after I moved to Boston, Roger made a hilarious Fonzie impression that suited me pretty well. Ever since, we have continued to crack jokes (not exclusively about “the fonz”) and have moved our adventures from Boston to Durham.
2. What was the favorite part of your wedding day?
The dancing! SO MUCH dancing. My 93-year-old grandfather even took to the floor and started clogging (giving me a semi-heart attack because he surprised me and I was doing a classic “keep your grandpa from falling” move while he was doing a “if I’m gonna die, it’s gonna be dancing” move). At one point (either “Love Shack” or “Sir Duke”) we had taken over the entire outside part as a dance floor. It was awesome.
3. What factors other than photos went into your decision on a wedding photographer? Why did you pick me?
There is a photo you took of a bridesmaid grabbing the bride’s boob, and I was sold. That is such a fun moment and I could see it easily happening in my family. Basically, get the boob, get the bride.
Also, you’re the best! I’ve been following your photos for years and just love the moments you capture. You are so professional and can get along with anyone (bride and groom moms, church staff, other family, everyone!).
4. Did you foresee any part of your wedding day being difficult logistically or emotionally? Did I make it easier? If so, how?
You made things so much easier! One thing that was important to us was not taking a lot of time for posed photos and the questionnaire you sent before hand helped me wrap my brain around which ones were super important to us and which ones were not. You were extremely helpful because it’s a overwhelming day, but you’re as cool as a cucumber!
5. What is the first thing you want to do with the images?
Share with our family and friends! And look at them for x100 hours (approximately).
6. What is next for you as a couple? Any big plans?
Back to school! The year started for me (year-round) and is about to start for Roger. I am already enjoying being called “Mrs. Peña” and then have to explain to 6-year-olds it’s pronounced PEN-YAAAAAAA (accent on the YA, clearly). I guess it’s more for me than Roger because it’s my new last name, but I plan on being super insistent people put the “ñ” in “Peña” (sometimes explain it as a “fancy n” to my 1st graders).
7. Anything else you’d like to add about your wedding, your photography experience, or anything else?
You’re the best! We loved every minute of it!
