Soulful Art for Brave Seekers
..and I couldn’t have gotten here without my amazing photography clients, art collectors, and art students. From my LGBTQ wedding photography clients to my abstract painting collectors, it’s been an honor to help hundreds of brave seekers better express themselves and add color + joy to their homes.
Courtney is an artist to her core, and it’s been incredible to witness the expansion of her artistic expression from photography to abstract painting. I hired her in 2014 to photograph my wedding, and then again in 2018 for branding photography for my writing business. I love working with Courtney so much, that we’ve become creative collaborators with our businesses.
Courtney is passionate about empowering others to tap into their own strength and creativity. The creation of her art is very emotion-driven and invokes powerful emotions in those who interact with it. As people connect with her paintings, this opens up a conversation about the emotions and circumstances that they’re personally working through, as well as their own experience and expression of creativity.
I purchased a small fluid painting by Courtney after watching in awe as she transitioned from telling others’ stories in the form of authentic and beautiful photography, to telling her own via lush florals, large-scale abstracts, and, most recently, dizzyingly exquisite fluid paintings. The colors of my painting I purchased call to mind ’80s glam–hot pink and cool aqua–and really brighten up the corner of my bedroom where it’s placed. I hope to have a whole wall devoted to Courtney Potter originals one day, but for now, this gem stands as one of the coolest works I have on display.
Every time I take a moment to reflect on how your artwork fits in the space, I’m reminded of how right they are and how grateful I am to host them.
When I look at your paintings on my walls, I feel a sense of wonder and openness and mystery. Having your paintings in my office certainly adds to the space feeling welcoming and intentional.

I’ve done two boudoir sessions with Courtney and plan to continue working with her! She understands how beautiful the human body truly is, in all shapes & sizes, and is able to artfully capture this. Working with her, I felt empowered, and completely unafraid to hold myself back. What I would say to anyone debating booking Courtney for boudoir is “DO IT!!!!!!” Courtney helped me realize that those negative voices in my head are completely wrong, I am more than beautiful enough, my curves & rolls are beautiful, my skin is beautiful, and I will not regret the experience. Our wedding photography was one of our top priorities, and we knew that we wanted someone special to capture our wedding day. We wanted a photographer with whom we would be comfortable to be ourselves, and someone who cared more about capturing real moments and emotions over what our centerpieces and decorations would look like.
In researching and vetting many photographers in the area, we were very much turned off by several photographers who seemed to be more interested in decoration ideas for magazine submissions! When we first met Courtney, we were truly impressed with her story, cool personality, and beautiful photography. I hired Courtney to create original photographs showing off my brand for my one-of-a-kind jewelry. The photos Courtney created for me are a great attention getter and really help show who my “girl” is from far away, enticing customers who might have otherwise walked right past my booth at art fairs. I printed a few pictures to have on the table in my booth set up at craft fairs and created banners out of my 3 favorites to hang in my booth. My husband and I hired Courtney as our wedding photographer, and we couldn’t be happier with that decision! Part of what drew us to her was not only her obvious talent, but how unique her photos are. She has a knack for catching those fleeting candid moments that happen throughout the big day when you’re in too much of a rush to really appreciate them. We found a lot of those “Easter eggs” in the finished images we received and we love them so much, even more than our posed portraits! The moment that you meet Courtney, you know you have been introduced to a woman who will inspire and intrigue you. She disengages you from the norm of reality and leads you towards a place of exploration. I treasure that about her and find it an irresistible trait. My interactions with Courtney regularly result in new insights into her, myself, and the world.
Courtney and I have been colleagues and friends for more than three years. We both run photography businesses and she has been a generous mentor to me as I stepped into a world that I was unfamiliar with. She encouraged me to quit a job that I had outgrown so that I could step deeper into my calling as a doula and photographer. My business would not be where it is today if it hadn’t been for her friendship and mentorship.
