Now that Allison + Will have tied the knot, I’m excited to share her beautiful bridal portraits from our early fall session in downtown Burlington, NC.

Allison wanted a mix of classic bridal portraits as well as some goofier ones- featuring The Essential Feminist Reader and two silly photo-bombers (can you guess who they are?!)

Allison, thanks for such a fun shoot. It’s always nice to slow the pace down and focus on creative portraiture, and your parents’ house was such a lovely setting for most of these pictures. I hope you enjoyed yourself! And props to your dad for holding the reflector and acting as the DJ for us.

Erin | Rustic Bridal Session | Greensboro Wedding Photographer

Since the weather didn’t cooperate with us for Erin + Charles’ wedding day this March, Erin decided to return to their wedding venue, Hodgin Valley Farm, for a sunnier bridal session. With its cute red barn, pond, and friendly animals, this venue is such a gem and is a perfect backdrop for a bridal session. Many of the animals tried to photobomb us, which made for a fun, spontaneous session.

Whitney | Saxapahaw Bridal Session | North Carolina Portrait Photographer

Now that Whitney + Brian have tied the knot, I am excited to share these photographs from Whitney’s bridal session from this May.

This session couldn’t have been any more enjoyable. Whitney hails from Western NC and has a natural love of the outdoors and adventure. When I suggested using the Haw River as our portrait setting, Whitney hiked up her dress and dauntlessly bounded from one rock to another over the river.

We chose the Haw River Ballroom in Saxapahaw, NC for our bridal session spot. This has always been one of my favorite venues to work at, given the proximity of the river and the beautiful natural light inside the ballroom. We made the most of our shoot, trekking from the woods to the river to capture a variety of backdrops.

Whitney, not only are you a stunning bride, but your adventurous spirit made this shoot an absolute pleasure! It’s always a treat when photography feels like play, and I certainly had a blast with you (and your mom!) during this shoot. I can’t wait to finish your wedding photos and share them in just a few weeks! Thanks for being such a breeze to work with!

Ellie | Old Salem Bridal Session

I shot bridal portraits of fellow UNC alum Ellie Bucherati last week in Old Salem,
N.C. Ellie and I bonded the second week of freshmen year at UNC when
we randomly met at the Student Union and commiserated with each other
about how difficult the transition to college actually is. She was a
breath of fresh air for me six years ago, and she was the same during
our shoot. I had been having a pretty rough week, but after shooting
with Ellie I felt high off of all the shared creativity, laughter, and
good conversation.

I have shamelessly been watching reruns of America’s Next Top Model
for the past week, and it really paid off during this shoot. Ellie is a
natural model–her mom even claims that she has been posing since
birth! (Ellie’s “smizes”
would floor Tyra Banks herself). When Ellie asked me if it would be
weird to do a bridal shoot in a graveyard, the ANTM-obsessed artist in
me shouted, “HECK NO!” Ellie was bending herself in all sorts of
deliciously model-esque positions among tombstones and eerie cast iron
gates, and I couldn’t keep the Top Model photographer in my head from
shouting “Girl, that is FIERCE!!!” I’m pretty sure I squealed with
delight and babbled a number of ridiculous, semi-coherent exclamations
throughout the entire evening.
